FAQs

Q: Do I have to be an organist of a certain standard to join?
A: Definitely not.  In fact, you don’t have to be an organist at all – nor do you have to be able to play any musical instrument.  Just being interested in – or loving – the organ and its music is a good enough reason to join.

Q: I’d like to start playing the organ: am I too old?
A: It is never too late to start learning.  In fact, many people taking organ lessons in the RIMG0017area are adults.

Q: I’d like to have a go at playing the organ but I don’t know where to start.  Can you help?
A: The Halifax Organ Academy exists to help anyone wanting to learn the organ.

Q: Do I have to be a church-goer to join?
A: No.  We welcome members of any faith or of none.  Don’t forget, although lots of organs are in churches and chapels, they are found in other places too, including town halls, concert halls, and occasionally in people’s own homes!
