Halifax & District Organists' Association

for all lovers of the organ and of organ music

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to be an organist of a certain standard to join?
A: Not at all!  In fact, you don't have to be an organist at all - nor do you have to be able to play any instrument at all.  Just loving the organ and its music is a good enough excuse to join.

Q: I'd like to start playing the organ: am I too old?
A: It is never too late to start playing.  In fact, most people taking organ lessons in the area are adults.  Don't be bashful - have a go!

Q: I'd like to have a go at playing the organ but I don't know where to start.  How can you help?
A: We can help you find somewhere to practice.  If you want some lessons we may be able to help you find a teacher.

Q: Do I have to be a church-goer to join?
A: No.  We welcome members of any faith or of none.
